Dr. Benjie grew up in Manila, Philippines and graduated from Centro Escolar University in 1998 with a degree of Doctor of Optometry. He served most of his time in the Philippines working as an optometrist for the American eye center alongside ophthalmologists, at the same time being the center’s refractive surgery technician for 10 years.

In 2009, He migrated to Canada and went through the International Optometric Bridging Program at the University of Waterloo and passed the Canadian boards the same year. He worked alongside a family doctor’s practice in Toronto for a few years and moved to Grande Prairie Alberta to work with a colleague. In 2018, He moved to Edmonton to work at a different practice location and after a few years, in 2023, he now works with Dr. Gill and associates. He speaks both English and Filipino fluently.

Dr. Benjie enjoys spending time with his wife and 6 year old son camping and just hanging out. He is also an active church leader in a small Filipino congregation here in Edmonton.
